About the Beirnes
We hope you make our Caravan and Camping Park, marina, or pub one of the stops
on your next holiday. We aim to create a family-friendly environment,
and are onsite most of time time to make sure your stay is memorable.
We are continuing a long tradition of the best of Irish hospitality. In 1946 a travel writer, L T C Rolt, wrote in Green and Silver about Joe Beirne's ancestor:
Nowhere in rural Ireland did we find any lack of kindness, hospitality and friendship, but in these respects this little inn at Battlebridge is particularly memorable. For this, credit must go to the Beirne family. Through an open doorway a turf fire glowed in a wide open hearth equipped with a crane and a ratched hook. The talk itself had a particular local flavour. Conversation was interrupted when a drove of bullocks passed by with a soft patter of hooves. Although our family still run the pub and now the campgrounds, and the same open fire remains, droves of bullocks are less common now!
